Our week at Sail View was so relaxing. I love that we can hear the waves reach the shore and casually glance out the window to see Lake Michigan. It’s such a treat.
I also did some beading! I spent four hours piecing these together. The necklace has seven strands while the bracelet, five. The most fun was choosing the beads for each. Viola: here they are:
I’ve opened a new Etsy store to make it easier for you to find me! The link along the right side and of course this one will take you there!
Search for me under “jennysjewels” – you’ll be looking for user, jennysjewelsHOLLAND and for a store front that looks a little like this:
I’ll post more necklaces, bracelets, and earrings as I create them for easy purchase by you in between my home shows. Of course, for custom pieces, please contact me direct or through Etsy.
I’m so excited to open a new store on-line with Etsy!
I’m currently selling three new necklace and earring sets there. I’m also trying to figure out how to show you pictures on my blog sidebar.. so far just the links are on your right, but I’m working on it.
In case you don’t know yet, I started making jewelry simply to match my outfits. While I can always find cute earrings when shopping about, they do not always compliment my outfits as I wished they might. Wha la.. unique jewelry that goes perfectly with my coat, dress, shirt, etc..
It’s fun to make my every day special. It’s my way of pampering myself. When was the last time you pampered yourself?
I created several pairs of earrings this week. I wanted just the right pair of earrings to go with a new blue sweater (that looks a lot like this), so I made a few pair to match.
Then as I was paging through one of my favorite catalogs, I spied some items I should have and made matching jewelry sets..
In other news, a gallery in Naples, Florida is featuring my jewelry!
There’s one thing about weddings that amaze me, and that’s the time it takes to plan a wedding. I think about all the events I’m a part of and have put on over the years, and while it’s nice to start thinking about the event a year in advance, the planning starts much closer to the date. Why can’t weddings be the same?
The biggest thing is getting your friends and family there, thus securing a date by finding a location that can fit within your timing in the biggest hurdle. Consider non typical venues such as casual restaurant who might be thrilled to rent you their space on an ‘off night’. Consider an art gallery who might clear all but their walls for a small fee allowing a nearby restaurant to cater. Tents are available for rent year round and can offer a unique created space most anywhere you could plunk one.
Now, getting those invitations out can be another whole ordeal.. You’ll want just the right design and color combo to suit your big day and the theme you’ve yet to create. Surely you could find something at a place like this: Paper-source that is already designed and quick for the store to execute.
Jewelry is a whole other matter as it could take weeks to discover just what you’ve been dreaming of. If you’re lucky, you will come across someone who can design and integrate your color choices quickly into stunning unique wedding day, wedding weekend, and honeymoon wear.
Yeah, I could do that! :~)
Destination weddings are my most favorite and I especially love those where travel to another country is involved. Let your destination take care of all the details! Sure, not everyone will be able to come, but what a great gift to have them present and sharing in this very special moment of your life.
Here is an article I found on such quick planning that might be helpful to you.
I love the look of winter and how clean and beautiful the landscape is early in the season. Everything is white, pure, and fresh. For sure you don’t need to think about how you’ll keep warm unless you choose such a venue as (the above).
Your first priority and thoughts are of course to yourself and the groom and how you’ll treasure the moment of your vows. But what about the freezing guests?
I found this little blog on winter weddings that I really likes.. practical tips here along with a surefire way to please guests: outdoor heaters.
In the blog there is the idea of providing a take-away stole for all the guests though this is a little extravagant. For special guests, providing something sweet and nice that can be worn again would be a nice little treat. I found these great little felted wool beads that I’ve used like this:
They’re fun, colorful, and warm.
I wanted to create a piece that makes you feel relaxed yet giddy, at peace yet excited.. I wanted to work with colors to evoke these feelings yet be a wearable piece that is casual or elegantly displayed.
I took a walk near my home like I always do yet could hardly keep my eyes focused ahead as the changing light and fall colors created a warm glow and amused my eyes with various shades of a turning season.
When I came home, I started beading.. and here it is..
I call it, Fall in Love using colors of my favorite season. I just finished matching earrings too:
